The past of Woolwich is tied up with the past of Bath. Both shipbuilding and seafaring towns, these sister cities share a great deal, not least their families through marriage and movement. The Bath Historical Society is also called the Sagadahoc History and Genealogy Room, located at the Patten Free Library. |

Another small river town on Sheepscot Bay, Edgecomb has a rich history, as well as a fort where many Woolwich residents took refuge during the Indian wars.

The Maine Historical Society is the repository of the Maine Memory Network, as well as an astounding collection of documents, including a copy of the original Declaration of Independence. |

The Maine Maritime Museum, located just over the river in Bath, has a large collection of maritime artifacts, and the restored home of a local shipbuilder. It is well worth a visit! |
